The Kids On The Fly exhibit is designed to celebrate air travel, presenting young travelers with a hands-on playful introduction to aviation. Beyond its appeal as a welcome relief from airport delays and stopovers, the satellite is envisioned as a cultural amenity that enhances and encourages use of one of the world’s busiest airport.

Chicago Children’s Museum: Stinking Truth About Garbage

The Stinking Truth About Garbage greets children and visitors with an educational and engaging exploration into environmental issues. Located in a prominent location, the exhibition is a colorful, simulated landfill. Via stimulating imagery and interactive elements, this environment teaches visitors about problems associated with disposal of solid waste, and introduces practical solutions that can be studied within the exhibit and practiced at home.

Expressing Identity
My Museum is designed to create hands-on opportunities for personal and intrapersonal expression and exploration. The body-scaled, three-dimensional entry letters entice visitors into a previously underutilized exhibit hall. Spelling out “My Museum” in very varied ways using tactile and diverse materials, these letters represent playful and creative ways to communicate.

A Cityscape of Play
A fanciful metropolis, Playmaze encourages a child’s imagination in a context-rich and integrated environment. This 1,500 sf city is designed specifically for children under six years of age. Scale, proportion, color, and form create a “mini-city” that is safe while encouraging independence, physical manipulation, and investigation; all of which are essential to a child’s development.

The design is inspired by the heartwarming stories of the classic de Brunoff tales. Nostalgic snapshots of Babar’s travels are transformed into immersive, referential environments that transport children, age three to eight years old, and their families to places of adventure.

Children are experts at using play to experiment, discover, and inquire. Vehicles of exploration -the city bus, the two-story airplane, the ambulance, and the spaceship – are designed to incorporate role-playing and dramatic play, as well as providing zones for science-based learning.

Garden in a City is America’s first garden and landscape design show focusing on urban horticulture. The inaugural season of this in-ground show featured a Children’s Midway where children and families found engaging and educational interactives that relate to the greening of our urban community.
